Ok but the thing about this mod… do they actually use the RT Cores? 💀 Cuz this could just be a more fancy baked in shadows mod, with Bloom and reflections, all of which could be done on non-rtx GPUs.

Now the only thing this game needs is remaking all textures into high detailed ones and you will get the Sonic Adventure remake that we all wanted

Dude, I’m surprised you’re even recording at all and the game is running decently honestly! I’ve run Mario 64 with retracing and I barely get 30 FPS and that’s with like six lights max and the lowest resolution

my problem is how how lowly lit everything is, the darks are just too high. need to find some way to brighten up the unlit areas with some kind of ambient lighting effect.

What are your specs if you usually record in 1440p?, as still seeing some frame drops for 1080p, but looks great so far.

Walking/Running animation was at its best here… I never had a problem with charging the light speed dash

No boost auto play button, sonic has momentum and it isn’t too fast where you can’t play, killing enemies are valuable for the animals… what a game… where did sonic team miss all this gold?

This is really cool except that with my 3060 this runs in slow motion on any setting other than ultra performance. Also some places like Final Egg are way too dark.

Looks pretty cool but there are points where I feel the lighting can be done better, seeing the characters just get too much darkness on their model when the outside of the darkness should be gradiented with the surrounding light natural light source. Some areas with this hardware are just so darn dark it just makes me wish they mixed in some more natural lighting to it. but that's just me being a nitty picky pleb :D. But regardless this is still amazing to see on a 1999 game, hope this classic meme game still lives on for many many more decades to come.

I usually think that raytracing that's simply slapped on top of a preexisting game kinda ruins the original's artstyle, but this one actually looks pretty nice. Still needs some reworking in some places where there's so little light that it's hard to tell what's happening tho. I also wonder just how much of this could have been done via pre-calculated "baked" lighting similar to the one done for Unleashed, a surprising number of those light sources don't move so it's not like those need to be done in real time.

cmon at least compare to the fixed lighting mod, sadx broke a bunch of lighting effects from thr dreamcast

Ah, this is exactly how the game looks in one of my memories. I distinctly remember coming home from the beach as a young child in 2001, and while still lightly coated in salt and sand, popping on SA1 on the Dreamcast to extend the beach vibes in emerald coast. It looked basically identical to the beach I just came from to my kid brain

I’ve long thought that graphical improvements in games have stagnated but RTX continues to impress me. Makes everything feel fresh and seems to work with a lot of art styles. Cool stuff.
